Women's Line.

Designed for women. Not scaled down from men's kit. The first collection from a grassroots club in Catalonia designed for the female body.

The problem

Shrink it and pink it.

Every season, more than 200 girls, teenagers and adult women wear CB Grup Barna's kit. And every season, they wear clothing that was not designed for them.

The shirts are too long. The shorts don't fit at the waist. The sizes available are scaled-down men's sizes. The materials don't account for the need for chest support. The cut doesn't consider the differences in hip, waist and shoulder of the female body.

The sports industry calls it "shrink it and pink it": take a product designed for men, shrink the size and, at best, change the colour. It affects everyone from the WNBA to a 10-year-old girl from El Clot.

"Shrink it and pink it ranges from insulting to deadly. Along the way, it's expensive, uncomfortable and dangerous."

The scientific evidence

Structural differences, not just sizing.

The differences between the male and female body are not only about size. They are structural and directly affect performance and comfort:

  • Anatomy: hip-to-waist ratio, shoulder width, torso length. A men's S is not a women's S.
  • Menstrual cycle: during the luteal phase, ligament laxity increases. Players need different support. Dark-coloured fabric to avoid anxiety about stains during competition.
  • Support: the shirt and underlying garments must work together, not against each other.
  • Psychological impact: Jane Ogden's 2025 study "You're Basically Naked" documents that insecurity about the uniform is a direct factor in teenage dropout.
The proposal

CB Grup Barna Women's Line · The first collection designed for the female body in Catalonia.

CB Grup Barna is launching the first collection from a grassroots club in Catalonia designed specifically for the female body. It is not a translation of the men's kit: it is a design built from scratch.

01
Patterns built from scratch, not scaled down

Cut, sleeves, length and waist designed on real female bodies. Three size prototypes, not a single standard.

02
Functional materials and colours

Dark-coloured fabric on shorts. Breathable fabric with absorption capacity. Secure waistband without constant readjustment.

03
Co-creation with the players

A validation process with the club's players: prototypes, in-training testing, structured feedback. The users design the product they will wear.

The Women's Line is not a commercial operation: it is a statement of intent. It dresses the coherence of the Barna Method in a shirt and shorts.

Connection to the Method

When the system is coherent, its by-products are too.

The Women's Line is the textile embodiment of Pillar 03 of the Barna Method: the organic community response. When the club practises equality, even the kit reflects it.

Every item the club sells channels a direct percentage to the Barna 8M Fund: grants for the 38 coaches who today have no federative licence. Buying a shirt is, literally, funding recognition for the talent the system ignores.

It is the Method's principle applied to merchandising: every action generates systemic results, not just testimonials.
