The Mayor at Parc del Clot.

On 9 February 2026, the Mayor of Barcelona Jaume Collboni and the Councillor for Sports David Escudé visited Parc del Clot and CB Grup Barna's facilities in an institutional visit to see first-hand the club's model and, in particular, its commitment to women's basketball.

It was not a formal, protocol-only visit. It was a conversation lasting over an hour with the board, the coaching staff, the coaches and the players, touring the facilities and watching a live training session of the women's senior team.

What it meant institutionally

Recognition, validation, platform.

  • 01
Institutional recognition. The Mayor validating the club's model is public confirmation that the Barna Method is not a marginal initiative: it is a benchmark for the city.
  • 02
A platform for the Unified Report. As part of the visit, the club formally presented the Mayor's team with the Unified Report on women's basketball in Barcelona, including the data on the 0.75% conversion rate and the proposals for the 2026-2030 plan.
  • 03
Putting El Clot on the map. The visit places the neighbourhood on the city's institutional sporting map. El Clot, historically on the margins of major sports media attention, becomes a benchmark.
  • 04
Support for the candidacy for the 19th Women and Sport Award. The visit took place months before the candidacy and positions the club before the jury with a clear institutional advantage.

Preliminary meeting with David Escudé

6 February 2026 · Ahead of the institutional visit

Days before the Mayor's visit, a delegation from CB Grup Barna had already met with the Councillor for Sports and the Sant Martí District, David Escudé, and his team. At that earlier meeting, various matters related to the club were discussed, and all the work and initiatives to promote basketball and sporting values in the El Clot neighbourhood were presented.

This preparatory meeting laid the groundwork for the subsequent visit by Mayor Jaume Collboni to La Nau del Clot, strengthening the club's dialogue with municipal institutions.

Meeting with the Minister for Sports

Besides the Mayor's visit, a delegation from CB Grup Barna met with the Minister for Sports of the Government of Catalonia, Berni Álvarez, to present all the work carried out over 61 years of basketball in the El Clot neighbourhood. The meeting made it possible to explain the club's social, educational and sporting work — a cross-cutting project that has grown thanks to generations of players, coaches and families.
