What LOPIVI is
Spain's Organic Law 8/2021 on the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents (LOPIVI) requires any organisation working with minors — sports clubs included — to have a written protection protocol, a designated officer with specific training, and a channel through which any risk situation can be reported with confidence. It isn't just paperwork: it's the legal framework that makes a club a safe place, not just a place where basketball is played well.

The Child Protection Officer
Ana Fernández, Marketing and Communications Director and a member of CB Grup Barna's Board, is the club's Child Protection Officer. She holds official LOPIVI training, completed and approved by the Junta de Andalucía and the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (April 2026). She's the designated person to listen to and support any situation affecting the club's children, with strict confidentiality.
In her role, she carries the club's voice outward and, at the same time, makes sure that day to day, on the inside, every child feels safe and welcome. For the club, those two things can't be separated.
Clean criminal record check
All of CB Grup Barna's coaching and volunteer staff — coaches, team delegates, club staff — hold a clean certificate from Spain's Central Registry of Sexual Offenders, as LOPIVI requires for anyone in regular contact with minors.
A child's right to enjoy basketball in a safe, respectful environment free of fear isn't up for negotiation. It's the foundation everything else is built on.
