First: leisure camp or skills-development camp?
These are two different things, both legitimate. A leisure camp combines basketball with swimming, games and outings; the goal is for the child to have a good week. A skills-development camp spends its hours training specific parts of the game: shooting, dribbling, one-on-one, reading situations.
Neither is better than the other: it depends on what the child wants. What isn't fair game is paying for a skills-development camp and getting a leisure camp, or the other way round. Ask directly.
How many players there are per coach
It's the indicator that explains almost everything. In skills-development camps, above twelve or fourteen players per coach there's no individual correction anymore: there's just supervision. Serious camps cap places for exactly this reason, and that's why they fill up.
How the groups are formed
A camp that lumps everyone into one big group is organised for the convenience of whoever runs it, not for the child. Groups should be formed by age and level: beginners need to be able to fail without feeling ridiculous, and those already competing need to be able to push themselves.
The real schedules
Check the start time, the end time and whether there's early drop-off or late pick-up. A camp that ends at half past one when both parents work until six is a logistical problem dressed up as an activity.
What the price includes
Lunch, t-shirt, insurance, equipment. Two camps at the same price can be very different once you add up what wasn't included.

The CB Grup Barna camp
The Barna camp is held in the El Clot neighborhood, Sant Martí District, and it's a skills-development camp: each week has its own focus —fundamentals, shooting, one-on-one, ball handling, game reading— so that anyone who repeats a week doesn't repeat the content. It works with a cap of around fifty places per week to maintain the ratio.
It's open to players from any club in Barcelona and the wider province, not just Barna's own. Recent editions have filled up before starting, so if you're interested the most practical thing is to leave your contact details and get notified when registration opens.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a leisure camp and a skills-development camp?
A leisure camp combines basketball with swimming, games and outings, aiming for the child to have a good week. A skills-development camp spends its hours training specific parts of the game —shooting, dribbling, one-on-one— with smaller groups and individual correction.
How many spots should a basketball camp have?
What matters isn't the total but the ratio: above twelve or fourteen players per coach, individual correction is no longer possible. Skills-development camps cap places for exactly this reason.
Do you have to belong to a club to attend a basketball camp?
Not at open camps. The CB Grup Barna camp, for example, accepts players from any club in Barcelona and the wider province.
