League competition or not: the first decision
This is the question that avoids disappointment, the same one covered in school, club or basketball academy?. A beginner school works on fundamentals with no competition: it is for learning to play and having fun, and that is fine if that is what you want. A club with league teams competes in the FCBQ from the youngest age groups: a child who starts there can stay for their whole playing career. The problem comes when a family wants a competitive pathway and picks a school that has none, or the other way round.

The four criteria that decide
